Join us to celebrate the egg–but not any old egg!
We are excited to show you how we raise our laying hens in the pastures and orchards to produce the high quality eggs we are so proud of. This is a three part event designed to immerse you in where your food comes from, how it is produced, and the people who bring it to your table. This a family friendly event–children 15yrs and younger are free.
This is our first time offering this event, which we hope to make an annual tradition. We’ll be limiting ticket sales to 20 adults this year–so act quickly!
Part 1: Farm Tour
We will stroll up to our laying hens to learn about how we run them across the pastures and orchards at Mountain Run Permaculture. Learn about the practices we use to ensure that our hens live their best life, grazing and foraging upon diverse pastures with plenty of fresh air, clean water, and sunlight. Immerse yourself in their playful and curious energy, hold a hen, see where they lay their eggs, and get edified on what makes a truly regenerative, pasture-raised egg with no gimmicks or hidden practices.
Part 2: Egg Tasting Menu
Indulge in a buffet-style, egg tasting menu that explores the versatility, diverse flavor, and nutrient-dense possibilities of this amazing food. This will be a casual, farm-style meal featuring:
- Cured egg yolk & lacto-fermented garlic infused butter on Great Day Gardens sourdough bread
- Kimchi deviled eggs
- Spring greens salad with garlic scape aioli dressing
- Farm Frittata with Restoration Acres ham, garden greens, and herbs
- Elderflower baked custard
- Egg-yolk cookies
Part 3: Egg Olympics
We’ll finish the day with a fun-filled series of semi-competitive, team-based, egg-centric games including:
- Egg toss
- Egg relay race
- Egg obstacle course
The winner will receive 10 dozen eggs!
